How We Can Help
Our Surgeons and Pain Specialists specialize in determining and treating the root cause of pain with Therapeutic Pain Injections. Many patients experience instant relief.
Therapeutic Pain Injections often provide instant relief of pain. These injections are also referred to as Epidural Steroid Injections and they include a long-lasting steroid and local anesthetic. The steroid is very effective in reducing inflammation and irritation and the anesthetic interrupts the transmission of the pain signal. This 15-minute procedure is simple, safe and is performed under x-ray guidance.
It is important to understand that our Pain Specialists take the first step in treating chronic spine pain by making an accurate diagnosis, which starts by listening to our patient and reviewing the medical history. Our specialists will then perform a physical examination and evaluate imaging studies before recommending treatments or performing procedures. MRI, CT, or other imaging studies in most cases help to make a diagnosis. While the results can provide important information, they do not always explain the causes of chronic pain.
Many people with abnormalities showing in their imaging studies such as degenerative disc disease, arthritis, stenosis, disc bulges and herniated discs, do not have any pain, while some people with normal imaging studies have severe pain. The medical history and physical examination are crucial in deciding whether things that we see on radiology studies are causing pain.
Once the diagnosis of the pain generators has been made, our specialists will move forward with the appropriate treatment. Talk to our doctor about this treatment.
