Step 1 of 10

Could a Cortisone Injection help you?

Let’s start by saying that there are many questions and myths about cortisone injections. We understand and want to provide comfort and confidence by reassuring each patient of the safety and clinical recommendation that is determined for you. Cortisone is a type of steroid that is produced naturally by a gland in your body called the adrenal gland. Cortisone is released from the adrenal gland when your body is under stress.

Natural cortisone is released into the blood stream and is relatively short-acting. Injectable cortisone is synthetically produced and has many different trade names (e.g. Celestone, Kenalog, etc.), but is a close derivative of your body’s own product. The most significant differences are that synthetic cortisone is not injected into the blood stream, but into a particular area of inflammation. Also, synthetic cortisone is designed to act more potently and for a longer period of time (days instead of minutes).

How Does the Cortisone Injection Help?

Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication. Cortisone is not a pain relieving medication, it only treats the inflammation. When pain is decreased from cortisone it is because the inflammation is diminished.

By injecting the cortisone into a particular area of inflammation, very high concentrations of the medication can be given while keeping potential side effects to a minimum. Cortisone injections usually work within a few days, and the effects can last up to several weeks

Reviews

Congrats to another raving fan of Dr. Timothy Luke and the team at Minimally Invasive Spine AZ! The patient had an out-patient, decompression surgery of his lumbar spine at L3/L4! He is standing tall and feeling great again. “When I came to here my pain level was through the roof. And after the surgery the pain was small the first two weeks, but now I am getting stronger and my mobility has totally improved. Today I am in NO pain! I have my life back thanks to Dr. Timothy Luke.”
We love seeing our patients get back to living a life they love after a minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Luke performed an L4-L5 decompression surgery to alleviate back and leg pain. Carlos wrote, "Before my laminectomy with Dr. Luke I had been in terrible pain for 4 years. I tried everything from physical therapy to shots with little results. The pain kept me from enjoying the outdoors and working out. After the procedure I was hiking within a week. I’m in considerably less pain and I can once again be active. Thank you so much."
"As a medical doctor i recognize an excellent physician when I find a good balance of knowledge, skill, caring, compassion and understanding. I would only allow a physician with those qualities to perform my required invasive procedures. Without question, Dr. Nasser possess this balance. From the time of the first interview, until completion of my last surgery, Dr. Nasser and all this staff have gone great lengths to assure my successful recovery with the utmost professionalism, skill, knowledge, understanding, caring and compassion. Thanks again for being there."
I am very grateful that I took a chance on AZPTc. Dr. Nasser is the BEST! I've been having back pain for at least a decade but the last two years have been extremely bad. My really bad days were a 10 out of 10. After meeting Dr. Nasser for the first time and having him look at my MRI he immediately came up with a plan of attack to help me get my life back. Four weeks after having a Radio Frequency Ablation I have ZERO PAIN. I mean ZERO. In fact, immediately after my procedure I was pain free. I’m back to working out and doing the activities that I enjoy doing and not having to worry about how my back is going to feel the next day. I would recommend AZPTC to anyone especially Dr. Nasser but everyone in the office is really nice and professional. Many Thanks to Dr. Nasser and the whole AZPTC team. For people out there who think there is no hope and your just going to have to live with your pain please give AZPTC a chance.
