FAST™ Technique — Fasciotomy and Surgical Tenotomy — is an innovative, gentle method for percutaneous cutting and removal of tissue and restoration of natural tendon and soft tissue function. The FAST Technique utilizing the TX1™ Tissue Removal System can be used to address the most common areas for tendon and soft tissue injuries including:
• Lateral and medial epicondyle
• Patellar tendon
• Rotator cuff
• Plantar fascia
• Achilles tendon
Based on technology developed in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, FAST combines conventional ultrasonic imaging for visualization with the advanced TX1 Tissue Removal System.
The TX1 MicroTip simultaneously cuts and debrides diseased tendon or other soft tissue in various musculoskeletal structures. This video demonstrates the removal of pathologic tissue in the lateral epicondyle of the elbow.
Fast and Minimally Invasive
The FAST Technique enables doctors to provide their patients with a rapid and precise option for removing pathologic soft tissue without an open surgical procedure.
• Perform under local anesthetic with patient completely awake
• Percutaneous insertion of TX1 MicroTip
• Requires only a nurse or technician to assist with system controls
• Tiny microinsertion minimizes infection risk
• Treatment performed in 15 minutes or less
• Tiny microincision (3 mm) closed with an adhesive bandage
• Anticipated patient recovery time is approximately 6 weeks for return to normal activity levels
An endoscopic rhizotomy is a minimally invasive endoscopic surgery that allows direct visualization of the medial branch nerves that supplies the facet joints in the back of the spine. This procedure may also be called a facet joint denervation.
Pain and discomfort to an affected tendon for approximately 3 months or more is when tendonitis becomes Chronic Tendon Disease, medically known as tendinosis, and at this point should be treated differently.
Chronic Tendon Disease can happen to any tendon and is most commonly located in the shoulders, lateral and medial epicondyles, patellar tendons, Achilles tendons, and plantar fascia.
Which is Commonly know as:
• Tennis Elbow
• Plantar Fasciitis
• Achilles Tendon Pain
Once again, it is a short amount of time before tendinitis becomes painful tendinosis and occurs when there is tendon trauma or tendonitis fails to heal through conservative therapies such as:
• ice and rest
• physical therapy
• compression and elevation
• injections
• medications
The pain might feel like burning, or cutting, stabbing or walking on shards of sharp, broken glass. This discouraging part is the Chronic Tendon Pain can get worse with time and activity.
Yes! Repetitive motions, no matter how ordinary, can cause small micro tears that occur each time you use your tendon. When you do the same activities persistently, the micro tears do not have time to heal properly, causing injury.
• Walking constantly or standing for long periods can cause knee, ankle or heel pain.
• Everyday cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming and mopping that require repetitive motions can cause pain.
• Typing or texting.
• Running and various types of exercise and physical activity can create micro tears and lead to tendonosis.
1. Pain is worsened daily with activity.
2. Pain can be identified with point of tenderness.
3. There is a ‘lack’ of inflammation and mobility decrease.
